Jennifer Stone has been tapped for the lead role in the live-action TV movie "Harriet the Spy" for co-producers Disney Channel and 9 Story Entertainment.
Stone ("Wizards of Waverly Place") will play the high school student Harriet Welsch in a TV project based on the classic kids book series by Louise Fitzhugh, and to shoot in Hamilton, Ontario, to Dec. 4.
The telefilm, directed by Ron Oliver, will debut in 2010 on Disney Channels worldwide and on the CBC and YTV in Canada.
Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke penned the script for "Harriet the Spy," which sees young Harriet determined to be her high school's class blogger as she clashes with her nemesis, popular student Marion Hawthorne.
The 20-year-old actor will star as Christopher Wilder in the upcoming Starstruck.
The flick follows Jessica Olson (newcomer Danielle Campbell), a down-to-earth girl from the Midwest who collides (literally) with Hollywood’s teen heartthrob, pop star Christopher Wilder (Knight). They wind up on a love-struck adventure in Southern California, but their bond is tested when she returns home and he publicly denies their relationship.
Starstruck also stars Brandon Smith and Maggie Castle and is set for a 2010 release.

In the TV movie, the Russo family embarks on a vacation to the Caribbean resort where Jerry and Theresa first met. The adventure comedy has Alex upset that she must accompany her family on the trip and she ultimately conjures a spell that reverses her parents’ fateful first meeting and puts the Russo family’s very existence in question. To cancel the spell, Alex and Justin must set out through the jungle to find the all-powerful ‘Stone of Dreams.’ Meanwhile, Max scrambles to make his parents fall in love again.
